ev. Walter S. Long followed the pastorate of Bro.
T. T. Myers at the oldest Brethren congregation
in America. He ministered from 1902 to 1904
following a one year interim ministry at the Dauphin Street Church where Bro. Myers had been. During Bro. Long's sojourn in Philadelphia, he was very active in Sunday School work and supported the Bethany Mission of the Brethren Church, the work of Brother and Sister Sanuel Croft. He and Sister Long were present at the first Sunday school session of the Bethany Mission, 3351 Kensington Avenue, 2:30 P.M., June 12, 1904, where sixty-seven met in an old store room. This was the the first Sunday-school session. On November 13, 1905, Bro. M.C. Swigart was called to be pastor.
