 ev. James A. Sell was born November 23, 1845; in Freedom Township, midway between Newry and Leamersville, when that particular locality was still a part of Bedford county. The nearest church of his denomination was between Duncansville and Cross Keys on what was the Bingham farm and it was there that the congregation extended a call to him to preach, October 24, 1865, one month before he was twenty years of age. The installation ceremonies were performed by Elder Christian Long of Shirleysburg. He was advanced to the eldership October 24, 1872; and was united in marriage with Esther B. Stifler, October 19, 1867.
