The original four-room school at 114 Ward Avenue was built in 1905. In 1916 four additional rooms were added to the building. The addition to the back of the school was made in the 1960s. When built, the school was part of Logan Township, but became part of the city school system when Logan Township was annexed to the city of Altoona in 1929.
