Rabbits belong to the order Lagomorph, they are not Rodents. There are two families that fall under this category, Ochotonidae - Pikas, and Leporidae - Rabbits and Hares. A pika resembles a large mouse or gerbil without a tail and short rounded ears. The basic difference between rabbits and hares is that baby rabbit's are born blind, deaf, without fur, and helpless while hares are born with fur and able to see, hear, and run around within minutes after birth. Also rabbit's will retreat to their burrow when danger is near and hares will spend more of their time above ground and rely on their speed to escape from predators. The reason why rabbits are Lagomorphs and not Rodents is because of the arangement of their teeth. Lagomorphs have 4 top teeth; Two teeth in the front and two teeth behind them. Rodents only have two single top incisors.
